Get to Know Eric
New Generation of Leadership Of Southlake, By Southlake, For Southlake
Eric Wang is the candidate for Southlake City Council, Place 6 - not only embodying the ideals of protecting the tradition, but also bearing the torch and blazing a path for the next generation of leaders who want to serve the Southlake community.
Born in the DFW metroplex and with roots in Southlake since 1998, Eric is a proud Carroll Dragon - starting elementary at Rockenbaugh and then graduating from Carroll Senior High School as the Class of 2009's Salutatorian. In middle school, Eric began volunteering in the community - at first coaxed by promises of pizza & Dr. Pepper, but then invigorated by serving the greater good - starting off as a SPIN Youth Representation and Youth Ambassador for Southlake Sister Cities before becoming the youngest SPIN Neighborhood rep. He thanks his father - Jeff Wang (a former City Council member and current active board member) for being his inspiration.
Eric holds a Bioengineering degree and business minor from Rice University, where he graduated as a Trustee Distinguished Scholar in 2013. To this day, he still continues to give back to the Owl community by serving as an alumni admissions interviewer for the DFW area and being a corporate ambassador.
Eric has worked in professional services since graduating from Rice - specializing in business & data strategy, which enables him to bring fresh, cutting-edge, and fact-based perspectives to everything he does in life. He is currently the Texas Geo's Data & Analytics leader for West Monroe, a business & tech consultancy, where he not only helps corporations and non-profits with strategies to incorporate AI and data to help drive business outcomes, but also mentors the next generation of consulting leaders, nationally. His prior professional roles also include being a Group Senior Vice President of Technical Program Management at Citi (overseeing the entire Data & Analytics portfolio for Consumer Banking) and being the Head of Insights for Ackerman McQueen (a regional advertising agency rich in tradition and history).
When Eric moved back to Southlake in 2018, Eric immediately sought to volunteer in the community & pick things back up since graduating high school. Eric has over a decade of experience serving the community - most recently serving on the Southlake Community Enhancement & Development Corporation (CEDC), and also having appointments to the Community Engagement Committee (CEC) and Building Board of Appeals (BBA). In the greater metroplex, he is currently a Board Member for the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens - serving on both the Finance and Earned Revenue committees.
Married to Jeslyn, Eric and Jeslyn have a young son ("Baby Dom"), who will be a Dragon Class of '41. They are blessed to be in Southlake and only minutes away from Eric's parents - Jeff & Katherine Wang. Eric and Dom may often be seen at local car shows, where they share a father-son love for cars.
